Role:
Software Engineer Intern
Period:
July 2023 — August 2023
Stack:
React, cross-browser UI
A first internship, and mostly an education in what professional delivery looks like from the inside. The technical output was React: 4+ responsive, cross-browser-compatible UI components that fed into a more cohesive user experience and a tidier frontend deployment workflow.
The more durable lesson came from the team of three. Participating in collaborative code review — having work read carefully by other people, and reading theirs — is the fastest available correction to habits picked up while working alone, and it is the reason later frameworks got built to be handed over rather than just to run.
The rest was the unglamorous supporting work: helping with daily operations, and cutting roughly 15% of the team’s workload by improving internal development tools and documentation. Applying industry-specific requirements to real tasks, rather than to exercises with known answers.
4+ components, cross-browser
Hands-on React, building responsive UI components that held up across browsers and streamlined the frontend deployment workflow.
Code review, both directions
A three-developer team, delivering features and reviewing each other’s work to keep code integrity and build the habit of writing for a reader.
~15% less workload
Internal tooling and documentation improved, cutting recurring effort for the whole team rather than just for one project.
